Project demo from my Motion Graphics class

This project was executed in a few hours during my Motion Graphics class at ITT.
It needs audio and more work, but demonstrates what we can do in one class.

The project file uses CC Particle World and duplicated comps set to Overlay blending mode, Fast Blurs, scales, etc. The point light flickers using a script. The photograph was shot by myself at an EAST Austin Studio Tour. The file was rendered to sequential Targas, imported back into After Effects, then re-rendered to QuickTime 100% PNG.

Dull After Effects renders are a drag

Trish and Chris Myers deal with it.

Windows users link to download VideoLan x264 codec.

Mac users download here.

 Adobe solutions regarding CS4.
Adobe suggest using a YUV codec (such as a DV or v210 codec).

Tip: Use a high-quality, lossless Quicktime codec like Animation or PNG to render a comp.
Then use a the Adobe Media Converter to compress to H.264 mpeg.

This is the MeGUI for x264.
As part of the install it includes AVISynth.
It might require you to download missing codec.
This has its own learning curve.
For now I am simply rendering to Targas, re-importing to After Effects, then rendering to QuickTime 100% PNG. The files are large but not as huge as Animation files.
The colors are great.

Another x264 GUI is StaxRip

Yet another free GUI for x264 and FFMpeg is FFCoder.

Some motion graphics artists recommend this codec

Color shifts and dull colors are a problem with After Effects renders.

Here is the PICVideo Motion JPEG codec.
