You are SUCH a great teacher Steve. It seems rare to me to find someone that understands all the technical aspects, but you explain it in such a way that ANYONE can understand. What’s also great about that (wish I knew you when I first started using computers!) it allays all fear. I’m more fearless now, but fear can kind of keep the information from sinking in, as being worried about making a mistake, or looking “dumb” amongst people that grew up with computers from a young age and know no fear, much less understand it.
I can do that with the written word, once I understand it, I’ve been told ANYONE could know how to use what I describe (when I wrote User Manuals). You don’t skip a single thing — lots of tech manuals, what should be simple instruction guides AND teachers in computer classes fail to do this because they take for granted those little steps they know so well.
I took a Graphics class at St. Ed’s – they had a large screen projecting in the dark – what you had to do — but before you could do it on your own computer (in the DARK again I might add) – they were on to the next thing. Now for people that already knew all the things the teacher assumed we ALL knew – that was fine, but for people not familiar, it was frustrating, embarrassing and therefore distracting not to mention fear-invoking — which tends to make you NOT be able to think clearly. You can quote me if you want – you are a great teacher! You opened up a new world for me in Photoshop & I’m less fearful in experimenting as time goes on, but of course still so much too learn. Thanks – didn’t realize you had an on-line tutorial. Love it!!!
@CarolGonzales, thank you so much for sharing your positive experience!
